Chapter 01 About Orbit

A browser by one person, for people who like to tinker.

Most browsers ship with three themes and call that "personalization." Orbit ships with the lid off. — Jonatan, Maze_Development

Orbit started as a side project. I wanted a browser that didn't fight me when I tried to change it — every panel, every shortcut, every pixel of the chrome should be mine to shape, not something I had to live with.

It's Chromium under the hood, so every site you already use just works. The difference is the surface around the page: move panels, remap every shortcut, swap accents, drop in small scripts that change how new tabs behave.

Orbit is in open beta. It's free, the source is on GitHub, and bug reports come straight to me.

Chapter 02 Inside the build

Built to be tweaked, top to bottom.

01 / 06 Theme everything Accent, sidebar, tab shape, density, fonts — every part of the chrome has a knob, not a checkbox.
02 / 06 Remap every key Every shortcut, gesture and chord is reassignable. Bring your muscle memory; we'll get out of the way.
03 / 06 Vertical tabs & spaces Group tabs into Personal, Work, Side-projects. Switch with a single shortcut, never lose context.
04 / 06 Command palette Hit Ctrl-K anywhere. Jump to a tab, run a setting, open history, trigger a script — all from the keyboard.
05 / 06 Chrome extensions Built on Chromium 136 — the entire Chrome Web Store works out of the box, no compatibility shim.
06 / 06 Private by default No telemetry, no account, no sync server. Your config and history live on your disk — yours to keep.
